The Gray New Gloucester Development Corporation was founded 5 years ago to facilitate growth of existing businesses in Gray and New Gloucester and to promote new business development. One goal of the organization is to eventually develop a revenue stream that will allow for low interest loans to assist new and existing businesses.
To that end, the corporation has worked on behalf of the Town of Gray to negotiate a TIF (Tax Increment Financing) extension for the NorthBrook Business and Industry Campus, and is currently working to facilitate the relocation of the Maine Narrow Gauge Rail Road (MNGRR) to Gray. Additionally the GNGDC has been hired to develop and implement a marketing plan for NorthBrook and will soon be employed to assist MNGRR in its relocation fund-raising effort.
The GNGDC’s most exciting project is the publication of the GNG Magazine. The full color publication includes information about local businesses, tourism, the farming community and the region’s creative economy. The GNGDC worked with the Economic Development teams in Gray and New Gloucester to develop content that includes vital information for those wishing to bring a business to the area, or those wishing to expand an existing one.
About 10,000 copies of GNG Magazine will be distributed at tourism kiosks and area businesses by mid July 2018.
Tangent to the magazine is an update to the GNGDC Business Directory. The directory listings include company name, contact information, website link, a descriptive narrative, and a logo or photo. The fee for one year in the directory is $120; however, businesses advertising in GNG Magazine will receive a directory listing at no charge for one year.
